Ever deal with those old-school metal coil heaters? They’re okay, but they can be slow. We decided to do things differently. Instead of coils, we use a carbon fiber filament tucked inside a quartz envelope. The result? You get 1000W of power hitting a tight, short-wave spectrum. The speed factor
Here is the best part: it’s fast. Really fast. Because we’re pushing a lot of current through that concentrated filament, the carbon fiber hits its operating temperature almost instantly. You aren’t sitting around waiting for the machine to warm up. If you’re using a PID controller, this is a dream. Since there’s basically no lag between flipping the switch and feeling the heat, your temperature control stays incredibly tight.
Why quartz and carbon?
The quartz glass is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. It just lets the infrared radiation slide right through without soaking up the heat itself. And the carbon fiber? It’s a beast. It can handle way higher temperatures than the usual nichrome wire without sagging or just giving up on you. This means you can power them on and off all day without worrying about the tube failing. Plus, the heat spreads evenly across the whole length. No more annoying “hot spots” that warp your parts and ruin your day.
A few things to keep in mind
These are great drop-in replacements for your drying or curing lines—think PET blowing or plastic welding. They just work. But a word of caution: 1000W in such a small space creates some intense heat. Make sure your reflectors and cooling fans are up to the task. If your housing can’t handle the ambient heat, you’re going to fry your wiring or kill the tube’s lifespan. Oh, and one last thing. Keep that quartz glass spotless. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil can create a hot spot that cracks the glass. Keep it clean, and these things will treat you right.
